Let us first take a look at the performance underneath the hood. Subaru engines are designed differently than those of conventional cars, with a horizontal BOXER® design aimed at improving efficiency and reducing vibration. Base trims of the Outback offer a 2.5-liter, 182-horsepower DOHC BOXER® engine, which generates 176 pound-feet of torque and allows the Outback to tow up to 2,700 lbs. If you need the most power and efficiency that this crossover can muster, turn to the Onyx Edition trim series which feature a 2.4-liter, turbocharged 260-horsepower engine. This turbocharged engine generates up to 277 pound-feet and provides the Outback with a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs.

The new Outback also comes standard with a variety of powertrain features, boosting fuel economy and improving traction on any surface. Standard drivetrain features of ten Outback include:

Interior

While the Subaru Outback might look compact and cramped to some, you will find your expectations met and exceeded once you sit down inside. The latest Outback crossover seats five with a passenger volume of up to 109 cubic feet. Pop the trunk, and you will find much more cargo space than other compact crossovers provide. The new Outback provides a cargo volume 32.5 cubic feet as the standard, 75.7 cubic feet in total available, with the rear seatbacks folded in.

In addition to its spaciousness, the cabin of the Outback can come styled to suit a variety of tastes. Base trims feature a comfortable cloth upholstery six-way adjustable front seats. However, as you move between trim levels, you will find all sorts of upgrades in amenities and creature comforts. Many trims feature the All-Weather Package, giving you a lot of features to enjoy during the cold winter months in Wilkes-Barre, including a heated steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats and heated front seats. Safety

As with all other new Subaru models the Outback features EyeSight® Driver-Assistive safety technology. All cars, including the outback, typically offer their own traction control systems, tire pressure monitoring, and the anti-lock braking system (ABS). However, not all new brands might offer equivalent features to the EyeSight® suite, and might not provide said technologies on all trim levels. All trims of the Subaru Outback come standard with EyeSight® Driver-Assist features, some upgraded for the new year, others continued from last year:
